London restaurants
Traditionally London has not been known as a center of great cuisine, but that is changing. The high-speed rail which connects London to Brussels and Paris has made the city a truly European capital. The influx of visitors from the mainland and the easy access that Londoners now have to other cities has heightened demand for more variety and better quality.

Attitudes are shifting and the economy is strong, making dining out an "experience" - something new in London. Chez Nico at Ninety Park Lane, La Tante Claire, and The Oak Room have grabbed the attention of the public and the affirmation of Michelin. They stand up next to any of the best restaurants in Paris or any other city in the world.

Speaking of Paris, if you have a taste for French cuisine, try The Square or Petrus in Mayfair. La Poule au Pot is a great French restaurant in Knightsbridge. Zinc Bar and Grill near Piccadilly Circus has a completely different atmosphere - up-tempo and trendy. You'll find a younger crowd here. E&O is another trendy place that serves up Pan-American cuisine to hipsters and celebrities.

Providore's Australian owner's roots serve him - and the public - well; great food from the Pacific Rim delivered with impeccable service in a great atmosphere. Livebait is a fun place with a few locations around the city. Seafood is on the menu, service is casual and tiled walls and Formica tables give the place a fish market atmosphere. The oldest public dining room in the city is at Brown's Hotel. Since 1837 they have been serving excellent food in an elegant atmosphere. There is a reason they have survived that long.
